Burlington Weddings & Events
Burlington Weddings and Events, located in Charles City, Virginia just eleven miles west of Williamsburg, opened its doors in 2018. It proudly sits on several hundred acres and delivers an incredible view and a luxurious experience for couples who plan to have large or small romantic weddings with an historic estate vibe.
This Virginia wedding venue has a rich history which adds to the historic estate ambience. The Main House was built in 1818 by Edwin and Sara Major. John Mumford Gregory, a member of the Virginia House of Delegates and Governor of Virginia acquired the estate in 1860 when he moved back to Charles City County to accept the job as judge of the Circuit Court. Over the next 130 years, the property changed hands five more times.
Amenities
Some of the original structures, such as the Smokehouse (circa 1700’s), a Guest House, the Ice House and the Main House, still stand today. The original buildings have been restored and remodeled to preserve their historic appearance.

A newly renovated Cape Cod styled Bridal Cottage has a modern kitchen and bathroom in addition to a light and airy beauty salon for the bride and bridesmaids to get hair and makeup done. It has plenty of luxurious space where friends and family can gather as everyone prepares for the ceremony.

The Ice House, which covers an underground brick-lined Colonial ice house, was actively used from the 1700s to store ice, food, and drinks before modern refrigeration. The structure over the ice house was restored and now is used as a unique bar for weddings and events. Additionally, a spiral staircase that leads to the underground ice house can be used for photography.

The Main House, which is one of the original buildings, is a beautifully restored space where the bride and bridesmaids can remain until it is time to walk down the aisle, or for other small gatherings.

Outdoor ceremonies can take place on the large greenspace, and has a white arch that is the perfect canvas for your wedding florist. You also have the option to have your ceremony face the back of the Main House, where there is a brick walk and trees that will frame you and your fiancé as you exchange vows.

For cocktail hour, guests can enjoy hors d’oeuvres and cocktails under the covered brick patio or in the courtyard.

Last, the Event Stables is an incredible facility which can hold up to 300 guests for an indoor wedding ceremony and / or a wedding reception. The Event Stables also houses a Groom’s Den upstairs near the Main Bar, and a spacious, elegant Reception Hall with beautiful wood floors, a Grand Ballroom with a Grand Staircase, and crystal chandeliers.
There are so many beautiful spots for wedding photography at Burlington. The Bridal Cottage, the historic buildings, the small vineyard, the Event Stables and the manicured landscaping all offer the perfect backdrop for your couple’s portraits during golden hour.
If you are a bride who desires a luxury experience with space for up to 300 guests, and an unlimited amount of photography locations, Burlington Weddings and Events is the perfect place for you!
