Keswick Vineyards, a bucolic Virginia wedding venue located in Keswick, Virginia is located a short distance from Charlottesville.  The current residence there, a beautiful southern estate, was built in 1911 by George Barclay Rives.  He named it and the surrounding acreage Edgewood Estate.  Two significant historical events occurred on the property.  The first event occurred during the Revolutionary War, when Captain Jack Jouett rode 40 miles to warn Virginia Governor Thomas Jefferson and the Virginia Legislature that the British troops, led by Colonel Banastre Tarleton, were coming.  This allowed Jefferson and others to escape.

The second notable historical event occurred during the Civil War, nearly 100 years later. On April 7, 1864, Confederate General Longstreet moved his troops to Charlottesville, Virginia to prepare for the Battle of the Wilderness.  The Confederates marched to various campsites, one being Edgewood Estate.

In addition to these notable events, Keswick Vineyards is a beautiful location for both weddings and engagement sessions.  On site is a bridal suite and a groom’s cave for the bridal party to get ready.  Your ceremony and reception will take place outside on the beautiful grounds with a view of the vineyard and the blue ridge mountains.  Your reception guests will enjoy the festivities under the authentic, hand-stitched Aurora tent, which will give and elegant look to your reception with its sweeping peaks and solid wood posts.

The grounds have an abundance of places for wedding and engagement photography.  I love the beauty of Edgewood estate with the fountain and immaculate landscaping.  Directly in front of the estate lie the vineyards, with the mountains draped behind them.  As the sun sets behind the mountains, it becomes a magical place.

If you are a bride in search of a Virginia vineyard wedding venue with historic charm and blue ridge mountain views, Keswick Vineyards is a wonderful location to consider.
