The Mill at Fine Creek Wedding Photography – Powhatan, Virginia

This picturesque, 10 acre, Virginia wedding venue was founded in July of 2004 with the hope that couples could bring their family and friends to celebrate the most important day of their lives and make long lasting memories.  As an all-inclusive wedding venue, the owners of The Mill at Fine Creek pride themselves on serving with excellence in everything that they do, from the cuisine to the property, to the friendly staff.

In addition to excellence, this place has a unique history.  The town of Fine Mill Creek developed in the 1730s when a grist mill was established along Fine Mill Creek.  The town continued to grow into the mid 20th century and included a school, post office, a store, and beyond (many of the original structures no longer exist).  The Fine Creek Mill Ruins, remnants of Fine Creek Manor site (Peter Jefferson home site), the Miller’s House, and several other features still remain today in the Fine Mill Creek Historic District.

For getting ready, they have a salon-inspired suite which is located upstairs in the main venue building.  It has several salon stations, full-length mirrors, a lovely sitting area, and a bathroom.  It is spacious and has a light and airy feel, which is perfect for the bride who wants space to get ready and to relax in with friends and family before the ceremony.  Additionally, they have Miller’s Cottage.  The cottage is furnished with a full kitchen, couches, a TV, one bedroom, and 1 ½ bathrooms.

They offer three outdoor ceremony sites, which are all tucked into their lush gardens.  You can have your ceremony at the original mill stone ruins, at the handcrafted pergola area, or at the Creekside spot.  My couple opted to have their ceremony at the pergola location, which had plenty of seating and lovely rustic views. In the event of inclement weather, your ceremony can be moved indoors.

Last, the reception space in the main venue building, surrounded by the lush forest and Fine Creek, has a wraparound deck and space for up to 225 guests.  The high ceiling with a balcony offers an open feel with lots of natural light.  Adjacent to the dining area sits a dance floor with a professional audio system where you can dance the night away.  Additionally, since the venue is all-inclusive, you and your guests can enjoy a “from scratch” meal that is made from only the freshest ingredients by their chefs.

With the unique architecture, mill ruins, and a variety of beautiful outdoor locations, you have so many wedding photography backdrops to choose from on your wedding day.  The mill ruins was a personal favorite with its neutral color, bistro lights, and unique structure.  Additionally, there are paths within several locations which also serve as perfect portrait locations.  If you are a bride who desires to have a luxury, all-inclusive venue with gorgeous views, The Mill at Fine Creek in Powhatan, Virginia, may be a wonderful option for you.
